Since pilots on VATSIM are now starting to file the RNAV arrivals into PIT, I thought it would be productive to put out the phraseology used for them.

To begin with, all of the aircraft are going to be entering the PIT TRACON airspace at the same altitudes as the non-RNAV arrivals.  They will be given the same fix and same altitude to cross, nothing new there.  When an aircraft, filed for an RNAV arrival, calls you on initial contact you must state which "branch" of the arrival to fly.  it should sound something like this:

"Pittsburgh Approach United one-twenty-five crossing NESTO at 10,000 with information Alpha."

"United one-twenty-five, Pittsburgh Approach, fly the runway 28L transition, Pittsburgh Altimeter 30.03."

If it was the 32 transition then you would state: "...Fly the runway 32 transition..."

There is no decent profile on these arrivals so you would decend them as normal if it were not a RNAV arrival.  so after they pass NESTO on the 28L transition, you would decend them to 6,000 and so on.

Now if you wanted to be ultra realistic you can use the Pittsburgh accent.  Larry can get you up to speed on that but I can give you a crash course right now.  Basically anything with a "own" in it is pronounced "ahn".  So Downtown is literally pronounced "Dahntahn".  And so on.

"out" is pronounced as "aaht".  as in "Get aaht of my airspace!"

Any questions or clarification on any of these matters can be posted in this thread.

LOL. Great last paragraph, Tom. Even as a Pittsburgh resident, I can say I hate the terrible accent (everyone knows I do not speak it).

Tom, that was a great post. Also, some things tthat I have noticed:

On the DEMME1 (NESTO) 28L Transition, the STAR has the planes depart STILR (There's the accent working) Heading 070, which could mess you up when you are busy. You could say this instead: "UAL328, PIT APP, Fly the Runway 28L Transition, Depart STILR Heading 360. Here's a diagram:

Another change will be coming June 3rd with the next AIRAC, which is an update to the GRACE2 and the HAYNZ1. The HAYNZ2 will filed A LOT more now, because it is adding the transititions form GRACE everyone uses; CIP and especially SLT.
