Just a reminder, we will be adjusting our phraseology to reflect the FAA's adoption of ICAO's "lineup and wait" rather than "position and hold". This adjustment for all ZOB controllers, as in the case of the FAA, will take place September 30. You are NOT to use this phreasology prior to this date.

As always, include callsign and runway number with the instruction. FAA example: “United 451, Runway 33L, line up and wait.”

Here is a direct link from an FAA article regarding this: http://www.faa.gov/news/updates/?newsId=61432

Adam,

You are not on our website yet (ZOB ARTCC), but in the VATUSA official roster database, you are a member of ZOB.  As soon as James or Larry adds you, you'll be good to go to start training. I would send them an e-mail just to remind them. Thanks!

Lets face it, Detroit's Airspace needs a major overhaul.  Its airspace is not customized to the arrival cooridoors.  You look at almost every other Class B and it brances out where the arrival cooridoors are.  Why?  Because it helps protect the IFR traffic, so right when Approach gets them, they can immediately put the IFR in the protection of the Class B airspace, away from Student pilots on a joy ride, and away from VFR traffic not talking to ATC.  DTW, and the surrounding area, obviously has none of that.  What I think DTW should do, though I have no power in the FAA, is to contour the Class B airspace so that it brances out into the Arrival cooridoors.  Look at PHX, SAN, LAX, SFO, ORD/MDW, NY, their Class B is specially designed for IFR traffic coming in the arrival cooridoors.  DTW needs that.  Keeping the Top of the Class B at 8k would be nice, but imagine is they raised it to 10,000?  Traffic on the MIZAR, WEEDA, and GEMNI could be put in the Class B sooner. It would only be bad for the VFR pilots if they could get that high to overfly the Class B.

Thats all I have to say,  DTW has to get with the program, The Class B AND Class D layout is horrible in moving traffic, the only breakthrough is the use of the Cage because it has multiple uses.  A VFR cooridoor, and an IFR decent/speed point.

I wasn't able to make the meeting(s), but I did see AOPA just released a negative commentary on the issue:

WOW, that video is great for getting started.  I remember my first lesson we spent the whole time basically setting up VRC.  Now its already done.

What a great idea to reduce trainer workload.

Thanks!

Im available.... everyday....  about 4pm Pacific to 8PM pacific....

Also, I can pull some 6am Pacific if an early east coast guy likes to train in the mornings....

I'm 33, no kids, and not married.  I work 10pm-6am Pacific time, off Wednesday and Thursdays.  That equals pretty much unlimited available hours hehe....

I had another question.  I re-downloaded VRC, but I wasnt sure about my actual "status" here at the Cleveland ARTCC.  Its been awhile since I was here, so I wasnt sure if I needed to be re-registered or what?
