Getting Started

1) Join VATSIM
-If you are not a member, click here to join. (http://cert.vatsim.net/vatsimnet/signup.html)
-READ all these pages carefully. Select the North America region in this step to expedite the process. Once you receive your ID and password via email, continue.

2) Join VATNA (VATSIM North America) and VATUSA (United States Division of VATSIM).
-You should have joined the North American region in step one. If not, you’ll need to select “Change Region” after visiting the link below.
-Once you are in the North American region, you will need to select the United States division by clicking on “Select a Division in a Region” at the following page:

3) Study for the VATUSA basic ATC written test
-Review the VATUSA basic study guide found under “REFERENCE” on the VATUSA training page

4) Pass the VATUSA basic ATC written test
-With your VATUSA password (received by email after step 2 above, log in to the VATUSA website.

-When you feel you are ready, take the basic test. (http://www.vatusa.org/certcenter/index.php)
-You must obtain 80% or higher to pass and advance to the next step

5) Join ZOB ARTCC
-Upon passing the VATUSA basic ATC written exam you will earn your Student rating and then be able to transfer to an ARTCC to begin working TRACON
and Center operations. To transfer into ZOB go to
(http://www.vatusa.org/pick_artcc.php) . and select Cleveland and our password
is browns.
-Within 72 hours of joining Cleveland ARTCC you should receive an email detailing how to continue training and start controlling on your own.
